Stalham stated well with John Bell and Liam Lown battling hard in midfield.Easton stretch the stalham's back 4 at time's using the pace of there striker and left winger.Matty Haystaed ,Daniel Osborne and Duncan Borrett had to be at there best to match them and the trio did not disappoint.
Stalham went 1 down when Easton got a somewhat freakish goal. With the ball just inside the Wayford end and with no clear and present danger ,there winger swung a foot at the ball, the ball then went into orbit before the wind brought it down at high speed leaving stalham's number 1 Edward Savage with no chance.
Easton got the second just before the break to go in 0-2. at the break after a constructive team talk from Chris Evans and John Bell.seem to do the trick because the second half saw an improvement with Nathan Culley and Lee Farmer looking move involved. with Stalham matching a side that a few month's ago would beaten them with ease.Stalham broke through from the spot when Stalhams talented striker was brought down.Lee Farmer converted for 1-2.Stalham then for the last 20 minutes had more of the play and looked the more likely to score.Liam Lown then came of injured his replacement being Ryan Parker.for Stalham David Cole and Scott Emerson had good games again.Shane Gold done well despite being forced to play out of position due to personal available.Legendary Lou Amis and Mr Whipper Orr both came on.FT1-2. Evans said "When I arrived here the team looked doomed but the really good thing is that a large part of the players that found themselves bottom earlier in the season, have in the last 2 month's competed with best in the division .the boys picked up 10 point in 20 games and have match that with 10 in 6 the last games ,which is fantastic for next season. both myself and Player/Manager John Bell are delighted.MotM John Bell.Stalham res travelled to 5th placed Watton res under the floodlights.the game started as it finished a tight affair full of action throughout,Stalham went close on several occasions Nathan Culley who was outstanding tonight missed two excellent chances .Lee farmer also went close. and Midfielder Nick Meale glanced a free header from 8 yards agonizingly wide, the home keeper also made some fine saves, including one from a typical erratic Justain Haines drive from 40 yards, the keepers fingertips touching the ball over the bar.Watton took the lead midway through the first half..Justin Haines and Karl Barnard then switch wings, this to combat wattons dangerous right winger who was causing the reds problems,Barnards work rate and discipline being Pivertible in stopping him playing.Stalham then made a mess of clearing the ball on there right 10 minutes before the break ,the ball breaking to watton's left winger who drove a good ball to Stalham’s back post ,which found Watton’s previous mentioned dangerman ,who had a bit of luck before squeezing the ball home for a 2-0 lead at the break.the second half was more Stalham with Midfielder John Bell yet again outstanding ,despite playing the previous night and being influential in Stalhams 2-0 win agaist Dilham,in the Rodney Bell.He had bags of energy and without John Stalham would struggle.with Chris Evans about to make changes Stalham made a lovely move,Karl Barnard winning the ball turning quick his throughball blocked ,John bell played a trademark ball through to the onrushing Lee farmer who slotted home, for 1-2. that gave Stalham'stravelling support hope.Stalham then replaced the outstanding Duncan Borret and Lee Farmer with tough tackling Johnny Davidson and Gizzy.the rest of the game was end to end Watton hitting the woodwork twice and Stalham's having a couple of good strikes saved by wattons excellent number 1.Daniel Osborne almost level in the last 5 minutes when he hit a neat volley from 25 yards straight into the keepers hands.overall this was a outstanding performance for Stalham ,had they not played the day before they could have had enough in the tank to pick up 3 points.again John Bell was instrumental in every thing Stalham did,John vision and passing ability is top draw,he looks to have put his 18 month injury nightmare behind him.David Cole was another Stalham player in fine form David has come back from injury and now seems to be playing consistently well week in week out.and with Justin Haines looking tired and jaded it was not until he was put 10 foot up in the air in the 65 minute which sparked him into life and Justain was arguable the best player in the seconed half causing Watton alsorts of problems. final score 1-2.MotM John Bell
